A New Science of Navigation

I'd also like to give a shout out to this short first novel from Martin Jenkins. It's a poetic mix of sex and politics, the magical counter-class in North London radios speaking across the decades. It really is quite extraordinary. I loved the poetic elements, phrases and images layering like incantations across the page. The production is lovely, with images scattered throughout the text. At only 135 pages it's a short, but intense read. Martin's a friend of mine (should I have mention that? Does it negate the review?). Who'd have thought there'd be two writing parents in my daughter's class. You can buy it here from Amazon.
What's black and white and red all over?
ReplyDeleteA zebra in a blender.
(Don't know if that counts as a joke...)
Great lineup there, and you deserve to be among those heavy-hitters; way to go!
And you're the first winner, Milo.
DeleteOne snowman said to the other, "can you smell carrots?"
ReplyDeleteSo two parrots are sitting on a perch. One says to the other, can you smell fish?
ReplyDeleteHmm. Anyway, congrats on this, looks like a fantastic collection.
My favourite joke is very silly, and goes like this:
ReplyDeleteThere was a family of tomatoes walking down the street and the baby tomato was falling behind. The daddy tomato turned around and yelled, "Ketchup!"
*LAUGHS* Good jokes so far. Thanks, guys.
ReplyDeleteTwo nuns are driving down a road at night when a vampire jumps on the hood of their car. The one nun goes, "Show him your cross!" So the other one leans out the window and screams "GET OFF OF THE FLIPPING CAR!"
ReplyDeleteI've awarded you the very inspiring blog award - more details over on mine.
ReplyDeleteWhy do dragons have big noses? Because air is free.
ReplyDeleteI love the cover for that book.
And we have second winner. Well done, Michael
DeleteI love that cover!
ReplyDeleteHere's my joke:
Why did the mushroom go to a bar?
He was a fungi.
Why did he leave?
Wasn't mushroom.
